TRINA (Protagonist): Trina Grayston – kind hearted bird lover who misses her dad and grandpa

  • Kind, 10 year old girl from single-parent family
  • Her grandfather and father recently died
  • Trina and her mom recently moved to Sonderman
  • She longs for her Grandpa’s love and her fathers’ mentorship; she’s seeking to heal her pain and cope with her trauma. 
  • She attends Sonderman Public School 
  • Trina is being bullied at school
  • She loves art, birds and going for walks and collecting natural objects for her art projects
  • Trina loves fanny packs and wearing leggings
  • Trina wants to save Sonderman Forest as her grandfather used to take her there as a child
  • Trina’s Grandfather and Hank were good friends
  • She’s scared of dark spaces and Salamanders

Hank McGrath – Loves forests. He’s the Leader of the seniors’ Wheelchair race

  • 75 year old man 
  • Former pastor of Sonderman Church
  • He lives at The Meadow Retirement home
  • Has lived in Sonderman all his life
  • His wife is deceased
  • His kids never visit him
  • Has a deep love for God, Jesus Christ and nature
  • He wants to save Sonderman Forest and has been fighting for decades to save it
  • Hank loves animals, especially endangered species
  • His efforts have helped save the forest in the past, until a developer recently bought the lands from the Town
  • He is considered the leader of a group of seven seniors, at The Meadow retirement home

Galloway Payton McGregor – tender hearted and funny Scotsman

  • One of Hank’s closest friends
  • Great sense of humour; loyal and loving friend
  • Former Olympic Athlete
  • Winner of Caber Toss at Scotland’s Highland Games
  • Physically strong, yet gentle
  • Excellent musician -plays the Bagpipes, drums, ukulele, piano
  • Holds the group of seniors together at The Meadow
  • Lonely and often thinks about his family in Scotland
  • His life dream is to play the bagpipes at the Highland Games

Ivan  Piotre Kuznetsovsky – former Russian commander who fled the Hungarian revolution

  • 89 years old
  • Lives at the Meadow Seniors Residence
  • Refused to kill innocent civilians so he was beaten up by his Russian squadron, who left him for dead
  • He was nursed to health by a Hungarian nurse, who he married. 
  • He fled to Canada and settled in Sonderman
  • His wife promised to join him, but she died during the uprising
  • He’s very proud, but deeply broken and carries scars. Suffers from PTSD

Muza Alamiyd AzadThe man with the robotic arm

  • 75 years old
  • Lives at the Meadow Seniors Residence
  • One of Hank’s closest friends
  • Escaped war in Iran, fled to Canada
  • His wife and children died in the war
  • Came to Sonderman 15 years ago
  • Has prosthetic arm that gets sore
  • He likes to stroke his big mustache
  • Soft man, warm hearted; lonely
  • Loves poetry and singing Persian songs
